PRESS RELEASE

Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

(Warrenton, VA) July 2, 2019  – Fauquier County Public Library presents “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” – part of the 2019 summer reading program.  Amelia Stansell, Senior Commercial Loan Office, UVA Community Credit Union, will discuss the ins and outs of financial literacy, and focus on helping teens gain skills that will last a lifetime.

According to Bank of America’s Better Money Habits, teens between ages 12-17 get most of their money from their parents, mostly in the form of an allowance or from parents paying directly for their expenses. Teens spend almost half of their weekly income, and statistics indicate that there is a difference between boys and girls in terms of saving and spending.

Earning and spending their own money can give teens a sense of maturity and independence, but it’s important that teens learn money management lessons early. “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” attendees will learn saving strategies, understanding budgets, and the risks and responsibilities of using credit cards.

This program is for rising 6th graders and up. Registration is required.
