Reading Riot: Get Away @ Your Library

Posted by annmcd on

Teen Read Week 2015Like a lot of students, you may be overloaded and overscheduled with school, homework, family responsibilities, part-time jobs and so on. Well now you can escape the day-to-day grind at the library!

Celebrate Teen Read Week (TRW) October 18-24 and drop by your local library for a free snack bar and something to read. Then get comfy in one of our reading nooks and enjoy a book just for the fun of it.

TRW is an annual event sponsored by Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) to encourage reading for pleasure. At the library, we have a variety of resources that will help you “Get Away” from it all – fantasy novels, sci-fi, beach reads, travel books, tales of adventure and escape, and more!

But wait, there’s more you can do! Connect to our free wi-fi, download an e-book or browse our databases. Attend a teen program, borrow DVDs or access the internet on our public computers.

The library can be a quiet oasis or a great meeting place for friends. So stop by during Teen Read Week and throughout the year.

To help with your book selection, here are the nominations for YALSA’s Teens’ Top Ten, a “teen choice” list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! Voting is open from August 15 through Teen Read Week, October 18-24! Top Ten titles will be announced on October 27 so check back to see the winners!
