Barbara & Keith Severin Lecture Featuring Patrick K. O'Donnell Now Available On-Demand

Bestselling military historian Patrick K. O'Donnell brought local Civil War history to life with the story of Lincoln's Special Forces and their hunt for Mosby's Rangers and the Confederate Secret Service in his latest book The Unvanquished: The Untold Story of Lincoln's Special Forces, the Manhunt for Mosby's Rangers and the Shadow of War That Forged America's Special Operations.


The program, which took place on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, is now available to view on-demand.


O'Donnell is author of 13 books and the recipient of numerous national awards. He served as a combat historian in a Marine rifle platoon during the Battle of Fallujah and is a professional speaker on America’s conflicts, espionage, special operations, and counterinsurgency. O'Donnell provided historical consulting for the award-winning miniseries Band of Brothers.


This program is the first in a new lecture series, The Barbara & Keith Severin Lecture Series. Mr. and Mrs. Severin were  active members of the Fauquier community and ardent supporters of library services. Mrs. Severin served on the library board for 24 years; Mr. Severin was president of the Friends of the Fauquier Library and chaired the Fauquier County Capital Improvements committee.
