Fauquier County Public Library, FEA Host READ Program March 5
For Immediate Release
Warrenton, VA. Feb 18, 2016 — For the third year, Fauquier County Public Library is partnering with the Fauquier County Education Association (FEA) to celebrate Read Across America Day (READ).
Since its inception in 1988 by the National Education Association (NEA), READ has become the largest annual reading observance in the nation, with more than 45 million people, young and old, participating. It encourages children in every community to celebrate the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss by reading. Research shows that children who spend time reading do better in school.
Fauquier County Public Library is partnering with the FEA to host a county-wide READ program Saturday, March 5, at 10:30 a.m. The program will be offered at all three library locations. The celebration will include a special reading of a Dr. Seuss favorite book, crafts, refreshments and other activities. The Cat in the Hat, an iconic Dr. Seuss character, will also be at each library location.
“READ encourages a lifelong love for books and learning, a goal very central to both the Fauquier County Public Library, FEA and NEA,” said Maria Del Rosso, Director, Fauquier County Public Library.
The program is free; no registration is required. Children from throughout Fauquier County are invited to attend and READ at their library.
Fauquier Education Association (FEA) is an affiliate of the National Education Association and the Virginia Education Association. FEA works in partnership with the Superintendent and School Board to assist with improving education in Fauquier County and advocating for education employees.
