Looking for audio books to make that long road trip a bit more enjoyable? Don’t want to betray your guilty pleasure of reading celebrity magazines while riding the commuter train into work? The library’s subscription to RBdigital gives you access to full-color digital magazines, classic e-books and popular e-audiobooks for anytime, anywhere reading on desktops, mobile devices and smart phone apps.

e-audio/e-books

The RBdigital e-audio book collection includes works by popular authors such as Rita Mae Brown and Diana Gabaldon, as well as a collection of classic e-book titles (many of which show up on the school summer reading lists). The nice thing about RBdigital is that checkouts are unlimited – your entire book club or reading group can check out an RBdigital copy of a title and enjoy reading or listening to the title together.

Magazines

Magazine covers

RBdigital is the world’s most popular magazine service, offering over 4,000 digital magazines, including Rolling Stone, National Geographic, and Popular Science. (Fun Fact: The most consistently popular magazine accessed through Fauquier County Public Library’s RBdigital service is OK! Magazine.) You can read magazines online through a web browser (Google Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, Edge, etc.) or download them using the RBdigital app. You can check out current issues as well as backlist titles. You can also check out as many issues as you want and keep them for as long as you want!

Previously, you had to use these two services separately via the Oneclickdigital service and the Zinio for Libraries app. Existing OneClickdigital app users were recently notified through their OneClickdigital app and e-mail, and automatically upgraded to the new RBdigital app. Existing Zinio for Libraries app users have also been notified of the new RBdigital app. While these older apps are still available/usable through mid-September, RBdigital’s new easy-to-use app provides a significantly improved user experience. My advice — download the app today!
