Consumer Reports October 2016: Stress-Free Flying
Check out this information in the October issue of Consumer Reports:
Are you a frequent flyer? If so, you may have noticed that things have changed in the last few years–higher ticket prices, more fees, long lines, cramped seats, concerns about safety, etc. This month’s feature article, “Secrets to Stress-Free Flying,” has tips on how to make your travel experience less stressful. The article also includes rating for airlines, based on domestic, nonstop flights taken from summer 2014 to summer 2015.
Do you dislike grocery shopping and meal planning, especially after a long day at work? If so, then a meal delivery service may be for you. This trend began in 2012, and now there are more than 100 meal kit companies in the U.S. But are you concerned about the freshness of the ingredients, or the cost, or wonder if it really is that convenient or healthy? The article “Dining on Your Doorstep” reviews five meal kit services that deliver nationally–HelloFresh, Blue Apron, Plated, Purple Carrot, and Green Chef, listing nutritional information and price comparisons (supermarket vs. meal delivery service) for the meals tested by Consumer Reports.
Virtual reality (VR) now makes it possible to have adventures from the comfort of your own home. The number of available VR videos is increasing–some free, some not, all requiring apps and/or other equipment (also not free). If you have the proper equipment, you can experience the Apollo 11 lunar mission, Paul McCartney in concert or shipwrecks. Can VR have an effect on your health? The article discusses this as well.
