A library card is your child’s ticket to academic achievement

Go to fauquierlibrary.org(Warrenton, VA) – Every parent wants their child to succeed. One of the simplest ways you can ensure your child’s academic success is by making a quick trip to the library. September is Library Card Sign-up Month, a time when the Fauquier County Public Library joins with the American Library Association and public libraries nationwide to make sure that every student has the most import school supply of all – a free library card.

Resources at all Fauquier County Public Library locations are available to anyone who has a library card. Students can turn to the library for materials, programs and services that support academic achievement. A wide selection of print and electronic materials, magazines, homework resources and programs for children of all ages are available.

Students can also use their library cards from home. The Fauquier County Public Library offers access to important educational resources, like Literati by Credo Reference, which includes research topics and free homework help and Tumble Books, interactive books for pre-schoolers and early readers. Students also have access to online SAT, ACT and AP test prep, and will enjoy the convenience of access to many other online tools. “Our library provides all types of students a welcoming atmosphere where they can explore, discover and create,” says Maria Del Rosso, library director. “Students learn in a variety of ways. Thanks to the resources available at the library, we can meet the needs of all ages and types of learners. Whether that is through homework help, STEM programs or access to print and e-books, the library has something for everyone – all with a free library card. For these reasons a library card is the most important school supply of all.”

Throughout September, individuals will receive a free, gently used book when they sign up for a library card. Library cards are available in four designs: Country Roads, Virginia, the Bealeton Depot and Book-Bot, a fun design for young patrons.
