In a year fraught with many uncertainties, one thing is certain – the holidays will look different from years past. Celebrations will be smaller and season’s greetings will be delivered via phone, text or online.
With fewer traditional holiday activities available, start a new one – get comfy around the kitchen table and have a go at a new card game, gather around for a family craft afternoon or play a challenging game of chess. After careful consideration, beginning Monday, December 28, 2020, Fauquier Public Library will close its doors to the public and return to offering only curbside pickup service.
In making the decision, the Library Board relied on information from the Fauquier County Health Department and the Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District about virus trends, area infection rates, testing capacity and hospital capacity. (more…)

When it comes to dessert, pie is an American staple providing warm and cozy memories for many. As a lover of pie myself, several years ago, I was delighted to stumble upon American Pie: Slices of Life (and Pie) from America’s Back Roads by Pascale Le Draoulec, an American food writer who embarked on a cross country trip seeking out pies of all ilk, the people who make them and the people who eat them. This is a fun, light read filled with interesting “ordinary Joes and Josephines” from all across our nation—plus some really good pie recipes. (more…)

The Mystery Book Club recently read All Mortal Flesh by Julia Spencer-Fleming. It’s the 5th book in her Clare Fergusson/Russ VanAlstyne mystery series. Miller’s Kill, NY Police Chief Ross VanAlstyne admits to his wife Linda that he is attracted to Reverend Clare Fergusson. Linda kicks him out of the house and soon after she is murdered. Russ is the prime suspect.

Fauquier Public Library will be moving our digital e-books and audiobooks from the RBdigital platform to the OverDrive Blue Ridge Download Consortium (BRDC) collection effective December 2, 2020. You will continue to be able to browse, borrow, and enjoy all the same great e-books and audiobooks you loved in the RBdigital app, but now they will be available in the award-winning Libby app.
If you have already been enjoying the OverDrive Blue Ridge Download Consortium (and Libby), there will be no change, other than you may notice even more great titles available for you to borrow. (more…)
