Before We Were Yours Discussion Questions

Before We Were Yours, the 2019 Fauquier Community Read selection, is a riveting story of two families, generations apart, that are forever changing by a heartbreaking injustice.

New York Times best-selling author Lisa Wingate draws inspiration from the real-life 1930s scandal of a Memphis-based adoption agency that kidnapped and sold poor children to wealthy families all over the country.

A list of Before We Were Yours Discussion Questions, in printer-friendly format, is available.

Before We Were Yours will be discussed by several library book clubs in April. Information about library book clubs is available here.

In addition, a special Book Chat will be held Monday, April 22, 7 p.m. at the Warrenton central library.

Fauquier County Public Library has “book club kits” available for book clubs to check out. The kits include multiple copies of the book, as well as discussion questions.

Before We Were Yours author Lisa  Wingate will make a personal appearance where she will read from the book, discuss her work and process for researching and writing on Thursday, May 16, 7 p.m. at Rice Theater, Highland School.  Seating is limited; registration is encouraged.  To reserve your seat, register online or call 540-422-8532.
