Reading Riot: Summer Lineup for Teens

Posted by Aaron on

“Reading Takes You Everywhere” during our Summer Reading Program and we are on it! No need to be bored for a single minute because we’ve planned lots of fun, free events for you to enjoy. Check out Summer @ the Library, 2018 calendar and learn more about the exciting events we have planned.

Have Books, Will Travel

If you’re going to explore, you’re going to need something to carry your stuff in. Bring your favorite t-shirt and we’ll teach you how to turn it into a re-usable book bag. Are you addicted to emojis? We’ll provide the materials for you to make a cool emoji travel pillow.

Experience the World Library Style

We’ll bring the world to you with a variety of exciting programs. From the Middle East we’ll learn the ancient art of henna hand painting and create beautiful, exotic designs. Tap your creative side with an award-winning artist who will lead a fun, ocean-themed painting class.

Reading takes you everywhere but driving gets you there too! Meet a local teen racecar driver and see the cool stock car he drives. You might even go out of this world with a robotics demonstration from a championship local team.

Do you have the writing bug? With newspaper blackout poetry, instead of starting with a blank page, we’ll grab newspapers and markers to wipe out words until you’ve created your own original poetry. Finally, we’ll wrap up another fabulous summer reading program with a showing of the movie Spiderman: Homecoming. Celebrate with free pizza, popcorn and games.

Each time you attend one of our teen events you’re entered for chances to win weekly prizes and the grand prize at the end of the summer reading program. Receive a Secret Code at each event and log it in to increase your chances to win. Register online now or visit your local library branch.

See you at the library this summer!
