Where were you in 1968?

Richard Nixon was elected as the 37th U.S. President. Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. were assassinated. The 1968 riots rocked Chicago. Pres. Lyndon Johnson signed the Fair Housing Act and Apollo 8 became the first manned spacecraft to orbit the moon.

1968 was also a time of creativity and culture, filled with memorable music, TV shows, books and classic movies.

Popular songs that year included the “Hey Jude” by the Beatles, Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love,” Simon and Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson” and “Think” by Aretha Franklin.

TV shows that premiered in 1968 include Hawaii Five-O, Here’s LucyRowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, The Banana Splits60 Minutes and Adam 12. Some of these can still be seen in reruns today.
