With Mother’s Day approaching, you may be thinking about ordering flowers online to be delivered. Lower prices and the convenience factor account for the steady increase in revenue for online florists. Recently, Consumer Reports ordered similar roses from three different online sites: 1-800-Flowers,, and ProFlowers. Which one fared best? Read the article to find out!

Self-Driving Cars

Are you intrigued by the idea of a self-driving car? Are they safe? Are they legal? And can you buy one now? Some cars now on the market have various computer-controlled driving components, such as cruise control and automatic emergency braking, but there is no completely self-driving car on the market at this time. Check out “The State of the Self-Driving Car” article for more information.

Safer food

2016 marks the 80th anniversary of Consumer Reports magazine. Throughout the year, the magazine is featuring opinion essays on various subjects. This month’s essay, “A Safer Food Future, Now”, discusses the food system, how it is more centralized and industrialized today, and the problems this can cause. Of special interest is the “Food Fights, Fouls & Victories” section which highlights other food concerns from the last eighty years of the magazine, including contaminated ketchup from August 1948, the frozen dinner boom from January 1969 and organic labeling of produce from January 1998.
