Reading Riot: “Choice” List Offers More Recommendations

Posted by Aaron on

Here in Fauquier County, schools annually participate in the Battle of the Books. The library does its part by ordering extra copies of the titles to keep up with the waiting list as enthusiastic young readers cram for the competition.

But did you know there’s another recommended reading list sponsored by the Virginia State Reading Association? The Virginia Readers’ Choice (VRC) is designed to introduce young readers to contemporary books with outstanding literary appeal and to inspire a life-long love of reading.

Noteworthy books are nominated by students, teachers and librarians based on literary merit and selected by a committee. Then students at schools and libraries throughout the state vote for their favorite titles; winners are announced in the spring each year. Ballots are due by April 15.

Now you can join the fun! Drum roll please… here is the 2015–2016 VRC Middle School List for your reading enjoyment.
