The Fauquier County Public Library is pleased to introduce a new program for teens – TASK.Task-Logo-September-2015-Low-Res

TASK – or Teens Assisting Kids – is a volunteer program for teens ages 13 – 18. TASK will be offered during the school year at the Warrenton central library. TASK replaces the TAG program at the Warrenton library location.

TASK will have two divisions:
Teen Assistants (TAs): TAs will be “behind the scenes” volunteers that help to make story times and special events happen. These detail-oriented volunteers will assist with story time prep (stamping nametags, gathering books for the week’s story time, checking read alouds for torn pages, scribbles, etc, creating instruction sheets for activity stations, cleaning shakers/baby toys, etc).

Teens As Mentors (TAMs): TAMs will be program assistants for the weekly after school MAKER/STEAM programs. They will assist with room and station set up, assist children with activities, and help with clean up. These teens may or may not have special skills that will assist with programs (artistic, scientifically minded), but they will all enjoy working with younger children and families.

If you would like to learn more, contact Jennifer Schultz, (540) 422-8516. If you are interested in joining TASK, applications are available online or at the Warrenton central library.  TASK applicants will be contacted to set up an interview time. All TASK  applicants will be required to attend a mandatory orientation meeting.
