(Warrenton, VA) November 10, 2014 – The Fauquier County Public Library will host ADHD Awareness & Understanding on Tuesday, November 18 at 7 p.m. in the Warrenton Library.

According to Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), ADHD is medically and legally recognized as a treatable yet potentially serious disorder, affecting up to nine percent of all children, and approximately four percent of adults.

“It’s widely accepted that a significant number of children and adults have ADD and ADHD. Our goal is to offer parents and children in our community helpful information to better understand what ADHD is and what treatment options are available. We are pleased to work with local experts to offer this program,” said Dawn Sowers, public services manager, Fauquier County Public Library.

The program will be presented by Neil Swanson, MDiv, PACG, ACC and Linda Swanson, MA, ACG, ACC, graduates of ADD Coach Academy and credentialed by the International Coach Federation.

In addition to their training, the Swanson’s have a lifetime of personal experience with ADHD. “Adults with ADHD have often experienced a lifetime of discouraging negative messages from parents, teachers, family, and colleagues.  Learning effective responses to ADHD can transform discouragement into satisfaction and success,” according to Linda Swanson.

The program will begin with “ADD and Loving It?!” a groundbreaking video that blends humor, hope and science to dispel the myths about attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (directed and produced by Rick Green). An interactive discussion will follow.

This free program will be held in the Program Room, Warrenton Library, 11 Winchester Street, Warrenton; no registration is required. To learn more, contact the Fauquier County Public Library at (540) 422-8500 or visit
