(Warrenton, VA) September 25, 2014 — Throughout October, Fauquier County Public Library will be collecting photos of veterans for its annual “Honoring Our Veterans” display, which will run November 3 – November 28, 2014 at all library locations.

The collected photographs form a historical collage that is prominently displayed at all three library locations.

“It is heart warming to see patrons of all ages walking through the display, pointing out photos that draw their interest and hearing veterans and their families discussing their experiences,” noted Public Services Manager Dawn Sowers. Over 120 photos were assembled in 2013 commemorating Fauquier County Veterans and their families.

If you would like your family’s veterans to be a part of the display, bring scanned copies of photos to any Fauquier library branch. Library staff is also available to scan original photos upon request.

Each photo will be accompanied by a caption identifying the veteran, the year and location of the photo if available, and the relationship and name of the person submitting the photo. Other interesting facts may be included.

The libraries will also display a “white table” to honor American veterans in November.  White tables are modeled after the table in the children’s book America’s White Table, written by Margot Theis Raven and illustrated by Mike Benny, and by the thousands of white tables set up all over the world in memory and honor of American service members fallen, missing, or held captive in the line of duty.

The Fauquier County Public Library’s “Honoring Our Veterans” program is the 2012 recipient of the Outstanding Adult Program award from the Virginia Public Library Directors Association.

Call (540) 422-8500, ext. 6862 for more information about submitting your photos.
